The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday morning honored the Alonso High baseball team for winning last season’s Class 6A state baseball title.
Members of the Ravens’ team and coaching staff were on hand at the ceremony. The team was presented with a plaque commemorating the achievement, a certificate of recognition and the each coach was presented with a symbolic key to the county.
The Ravens became the Hillsborough County’s first baseball state champion since 2001 and first public school since 1998 to win a state title with a victory over Miami Columbus in the 6A championship game last May in Port St. Lucie.
