Countdown To Plant

We are counting down the days we have until we play Plant. I have never seen the team so anxious before. It’s almost scary. I am very excited, because that’s the kind of attitude we have to have week in and week out. We have worked very hard this whole week, and a lot of the other players have really been opening up scouts’ eyes! It’s a beautiful thing when you see your teammates getting a lot of attention and recognition. To be completely honest, they are even surprising me!

On Monday night, I had to leave practice early to attend the annual Tampa Tribune Parade of Athletes. It was a very good banquet. Well organized. I talked with Jarred Fayson and a couple other football players for a little bit, and some of my other friends that play different sports and go to different schools. I was very shocked to learn that I won the Offensive Player of the Year. I thought that only seniors won the award. I was thrilled and honored to win that award. Throughout the entire deal, people came over to me and asked where I was going to go next year. I have to admit, this whole process is pretty fun. I’m enjoying every day of it, because not only am I getting recognized, but I also get to put my teammates’ names out there and this whole little blog thing is a pretty cool deal.

There were some more coaches at practice and school today. Florida State, Northwestern, UCF and Akron were here today. They will all be there in Gainesville for the Nike combine. I really can’t wait!

Well, my next blog entry will contain how the spring game against Plant went. The outcome better favor us, and if we stay focused, I believe it will be. We can only lose to ourselves, we’ve just got to play smart!

I also want to take time and say thank you to all who have posted comments, including my grandfather Ag, and my aunt, Laura! Also my
family members in South Carolina. Thank you to all who have been following and keeping up with me, it means a lot! Thank you!

Stephen, I really hope you come to S.C. As you can tell we already feel like your one of the Gamecock Nation. All I can say is all of the coaches Q.B.’s have gone the the N.F.L.,and in one short year he has make an average Q.B. into a winner. Oh, one more thing.....#4 S.Rice.....

Stephen, It seems you are getting some feedback from the SC fans, but you belong in Florida...specifically TALLAHASSEE, FL. I can see you in Garnet & Gold, playing at Doak Campbell, under the lights, National TV ESPN, the War Chant playing in the background. There’s nothing like it. Oh, you’re gonna love it. And we’re gonna love you.  Best of Luck!

Congrats on the award. I’m sure that makes you feel good inside. I have been folowing your recruiting on the internet and saw you at Williams Brice for the USC spring game. You seem like a solid individual and football player. I hope that you choose the Gamecocks! Special people work well with other special people, and Steve Spurrier is special!

Stephen, first off I want to emphatically say GO COCKS!! Congrats on winning the offensive POY award.  You have some big time athletes and ball players in your area.  That is a huge accomplishment.  Good luck against Plant, take it to ‘em hard!

S.G.,

I promise, I never post on this type of stuff. But I really believe you’ll make an impact at South Carolina. You wrote posting here means a lot so here goes. I am a native Columbian and I grew up a Carolina fan. I regret that I didn’t attended Carolina. I went to school in North Carolina. USC is where my heart has always been. I would love to see you G.G., Q R., B.Maddox, M.Barnes, etc. help lead us to a national title. The financial restructuring at Carolina only helps and the national spotlight is always on Carolina (1st 3 games on ESPN). The pieces are setting up and I personally consider you a MAJOR piece of the puzzle. Good luck against PLANT and stay healthy. And remember, FOLLOW YOU HEART when making your decision!

GO COCKS

Yes congradulations on the offensive player of the year award. Im sure Plants defense is shaking in their shoes just like every SEC defense except the Gamecocks of course.I cant wait until you are apart of the Carolina exteded family. I have watched all of yours and Tebows film and he is a great talent, but i know you could beat him out at Florida, I know you have the talent, but we need you to be a Gamecock. Be part of something big. It will also be a great battle between you and Chris Smelley at Carolina. There is nothing like a top qb battle under the greatest colleage coach ever! I already consider you family, just show the rest of the world whos family your in. Comon to South Carolina Stephen.
