Bucs Report
Could Henry Be Heading Bucs Way?

TAMPA - Even after drafting Dexter Jackson in the second round, the Bucs still have a pretty size-able hole in their receiving corps. Could it be they have plans to fill that hole with troubled receiver Chris Henry?

A judge in Cincinnati has temporarily released the seemingly always-in-trouble Henry from electronic monitoring and house arrest so that he can travel to another city to attend a tryout with an NFL team. The team was not named in Tuesday’s hearing but the judge has asked for a letter from the team so we should know which team is after Henry pretty soon.

No one ‘round these parts would be at all surpised if it was the Bucs. They’ll do just about anything to improve their team, including offering wayward players a second or even third chance. You have to wonder, though, if the Bucs would extend such an offer to someone as troubled as Henry.

Henry has twice been suspended by the NFL for drug and alcohol-related incidents and is currently facing charges following an incident in which he allegedly punched a man in the head and threw a beer can into the man’s car. Following his arrest on those charges, Henry was held under $51,000 bail. When he made bail, he was ordered to wear the electronic monitoring device and placed under house arrest.

We’ll let you know just as soon as we know which team is after Henry.

Sean, I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings, and quite frankly I didn’t make any political statement. Conversely, you did. I merely used the most powerful and respected positions in the land as examples of how hypochritical fans can be. You obviously are too stupid to comprehend well written English and a hypochrite to boot. I forgive you though because I am a Christian. Oops, now I’ve brought religion into the (one-way) conversation too! I find it useless to get into a battle of witts with someone so utterly unarmed! Did you get any of that?

Give Chris Henry a shot and move dexter out at slot that way he’ll be more effective I mean both of them can catch but let Chris go out since he’s some what a Veteran. If Dexter Jackson can catch on quick then we will see otherwise let Chris prove himself and fight for the spot he possibly deserves.

Give him a shot, These players have to deal with drunk morans all the time running thier mouths to get a reaction, some just push the right buttons.  To the idiot skylar bringing politics in this shows how much of a clown you are. Stay in Carolina and go cut Edwards front yard Punk!

I think its funny how people will vote for a president with character issues but get MADD when our football team considers someone with character flaws to catch a football on Sundays. This is the NFL’s fault; not individual teams. The NFL needs to step in and make these players unavailable and then no team would even have the opportunity to make NFL fans the hypochrites that they are. What would you say about Bush or Cheney if they were in consideration for a roster spot? They’ve both been convicted of DUI in the past. Chew on that awhile nimwits!

It’s not good when you show up for workouts with a electronic ankle monitor on. Godell’s gonna drop an axe on his head in ‘08 (suspension).Heck no we shouldn’t sign him. Let him play for peanuts in Canada.

Please tell me that the idiot (Roy Cummings)that wrote this story isn’t a reporter!!! The above listed site is the pewter report which has already stated the opposite of Mr. Rumor starter’s little column.  Roy, what drug are you on man.  Research prior to engaging big mouth usually masks ignorance for a time.

Leave it to Roy Cummings and the Tribune to speculate on another turd… continuing to feed into the notion that Gruden and Allen don’t care about character. The greater evidence BY FAR is that they look for guys who are good teammates… That’s where Henry doesn’t fit… Also, Henry has used up all his second chances elsewhere.

Purple, Don’t get your hopes up. That was just a sarcastic comment that was made. Anyway yes Vick can run the ball but he totally lacks in the passing game. And with him being in prison for a couple of years he won’t be the same when he gets out. That would be just another project. We got enough of those.

Posted by  Mitch R, NYC on 05/08  at  10:28 AM

Hey Purple, dont be a tard, Mike Vick is still under contract with the Falcons and we can not, and would not contact him.

Posted by  purple,  on 05/08  at  10:01 AM

DID THE BUCS REALLY CONTACT MIKE VICK I THINK THAT WOULD BE GREAT HE NEEDS A SECOND CHANCE AND IN GRUDENS WEST COAST OFFENSE I THINK HIM AND JOSH JONHSON COULD REALLY EXCEL AND BE LIKE THE TWO QBS WHO WERE SPLITING REPS IN VIRGINA TECH LAST SEASON WE WOULD WIN ALOT OF GAMES WITH THOSE 2 QBS MIKE VICK IS STILL AND ELITE PLAYER PUT HIM ON A REAL TEAM LIKE THE BUCS AND HE COULD REALLY BE GOOD NO ONE CAN BE GOOD ON THE FALCONS THE BUCS GOT A DEFENSE AND NOW THEY HAVE SOME REAL SPEED ON OFFENSE IF THEY ADDED MIKE VICK ALL I GOT TO SAY IS WATCH OUT

SpartanDan is Roy’s Knight in Shining Armor.  Dan, I realize that he posts this crap for discussion, but all I’m asking for is some real news.  Something that I can’t find on ESPN or NFL.com, something that shows that the Tampa Trib reporters are in the “Know”. Gimme some more stuff on the rookie camp.  I would have thought that there’d be more stuff, something that the rabid fans are yearning for.  Not speculating that Chris Henry could be headed to TB because we have a glaring need at WR (which by the way I disagree with).  Chris Henry has been the 3rd receiver in Cincy and surrounded by Perrenial Pro-Bowlers, so of course he has decent stats.  I remember Alvin Harper putting up big stats and coming to TB and busting.

It seems to me the writer is simply bringing an idea to light for discussion.  For those of you who don’t like that, maybe you should stick to Associated Press clippings instead of a blog.  If you are consistently unhappy with this paper’s coverage of the Bucs, I find it curious you don’t just move on to something else.

Posted by  James,  on 05/08  at  07:22 AM

Hey Cval,… doesn’t tennessee have a team you can root for?

Posted by  Steve A, Hereford England on 05/08  at  01:13 AM

No one `round these parts would be at all suprised if this story was rubish. They`ll do just about anything to improve their paper, including offering wayward writers a second or maybe third chance to come up with a decent piece of writing. You have to wonder though, if they would extend such an offer to someone who writes about facts.

Blane, Come on man!! Who is really wearing any ankle bracelets? You people with your silly little ^##@$# comments, Why don’t you go and cheer for another team? Because you are not a true Bucs fan.

Posted by  Blane, Seffner on 05/07  at  07:19 PM

We’re bound to be the slowest team in the league, with half the players sporting ankle bracelets!

Posted by  MacGregor, Los Angeles, CA on 05/07  at  05:49 PM

Nice conjecture, Roy.  Got any real scoops for us, or just more rumors?  Maybe a list you got from another news source to fill todays quota?

Posted by  Lewis, Winter Park, FL on 05/07  at  03:39 PM

Roy you lazy hack!  Why don’t you do your homework before writing this crap???!!!  You have no source backing up this story.  As usual, you’re trying to make Gruden and Allen look bad.

Posted by  Seth C, Georgia on 05/07  at  03:08 PM

CVal, that’s just a plain ignorant comment. Of the players you listed as good guys, Sapp, Kelly, and Brooks ALL had what would now be deemed “character issues” before or early into the stays with the Bucs (in Sapp’s case, it was throughout). I’m not saying Henry could turn it around, but this is just silly rumor-mongering anyway. People getting on Gruden and Allen for bringing such guys in and complain about letting go of guys like Sapp are just plain hypocrites.

Posted by  john, buford on 05/07  at  02:38 PM

and no we have not contacted vick

Posted by  john, buford on 05/07  at  02:35 PM

and no we havent contacted him

Posted by  john, buford on 05/07  at  02:32 PM

look we dont need him becuse we just got a wr and why would they take a low life scumbag like him

Posted by  Michael Singleton, Irvine,CA on 05/07  at  02:14 PM

This just in the BUCS have contacted the warden where Mike Vick is housed and they have worked out a contract to bring him to Tampa once he gets out to replace Jeff Garcia and the 10 other QB’s the Bucs have in Camp!

Can we bring back the orange uniforms since a lot of our new additions have worn a orange jumper in Jail!

Posted by  Dash Riprock,  on 05/07  at  12:18 PM

Roy must be nice to have a job where your not accountable for nothing.First the Bucs were offered a 6th for Simms, Wrong and now they are going after Henry, Wrong. Geez what a hack.
