Land O’Lakes coach Brian Wachtel confirmed in a text message to the Tampa Tribune on Monday morning that TE Kent Taylor has a broken bone in his hand and the team is awaiting his status for the Gators’ season opener at Zephyrhills on Friday.
“Xrays confirmed Kent did break a bone in hand. We are awaiting results from an appointment on his status,” Wachtel’s text stated.
Taylor, the nation’s No. 1-rated tight end in the country according to Rivals.com, said on Facebook Sunday night he had broke his hand during the Gators 36-0 win over Anclote on Friday.
Taylor had three catches for 67 yards including a 43-yard catch-and-run TD and, also according to his Facebook, broke his hand making a block.
