In case you were wondering just how complicated it is to break down all the possible playoff scenarios with even two games left to play for the majority of the teams in a district, here is the example of Class 4A-District 6, which includes four Pasco teams: Hudson, Wiregrass Ranch, River Ridge and Ridgewood in addition to the current district leader, Tarpon Springs…
Current Standings
1. Tarpon Springs 3-0
2. Hudson 2-0
3. Wiregrass Ranch 1-1
4. River Ridge 0-2

Tarpon Springs: at Hudson (10/30)
Hudson: vs. Tarpon Springs (10/30); at Wiregrass Ranch (11/6)
Wiregrass Ranch: vs. River Ridge (10/30); vs. Hudson (11/6)
River Ridge: at Wiregrass Ranch (10/30); at Ridgewood (11/6)
Ridgewood: vs. River Ridge (11/6)
Tarpon Springs has already clinched a spot in any playoff tiebreaker, where a win would clinch the district title and a second-place finish would clinch a playoff spot. It can also clinch the district title with:
1) a win against Hudson on 10/30.
Tarpon Springs can also clinch a playoff spot with a second-place finish in any of the above discussed tiebreakers, OR:
1) a River Ridge win against Wiregrass Ranch on 10/30, OR
2) a Hudson win against Wiregrass Ranch on 11/6.
Hudson can clinch the district title with:
1) a win against Tarpon Springs on 10/30 AND a win against Wiregrass Ranch on 11/6; OR
2) a win against Tarpon Springs on 10/30 AND a River Ridge win against Wiregrass Ranch on 10/30; OR
3) a win against Tarpon Springs on 10/30, which would clinch a spot in any tiebreaker, AND a first place finish in that tiebreaker.
Hudson can also clinch a playoff spot with:
1) a win against Wiregrass Ranch on 11/6; OR
2) a win against Tarpon Springs on 10/30, which would clinch a spot in any tiebreaker, AND a second-place finish or better in the tiebreaker; OR
3) a River Ridge win against Wiregrass Ranch on 10/30 AND a River Ridge win against Ridgewood on 11/6, which would clinch a spot in any three-way tiebreaker for the runner-up spot, AND a first place finish in that tiebreaker.
Wiregrass Ranch can clinch the district title with:
1) a win against River Ridge on 10/30 AND a Hudson win against Tarpon Springs on 10/30 AND a win against Hudson on 11/6, which would clinch a spot in a three-way tiebreaker, AND a first place finish in that tiebreaker.
Wiregrass Ranch can clinch a playoff spot with:
1) a Tarpon Springs win against Hudson on 10/30 AND a win against Hudson on 11/6 AND a Ridgewood win against River Ridge on 11/6; OR
2) a win against River Ridge on 10/30 AND a Hudson win against Tarpon Springs on 10/30 AND a win against Hudson on 11/6, which would clinch a spot in a three-way tiebreaker, AND a second place finish in that tiebreaker; OR
3) a Tarpon Springs win against Hudson on 10/30 AND a win against Hudson on 11/6 AND a River Ridge win against Ridgewood on 11/6, which would clinch any three-way tiebreaker for the runner-up spot, AND a first place finish in that tiebreaker.
Note: Wiregrass Ranch would be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss to Hudson on 11/6.
River Ridge cannot win the district title. It can clinch a playoff spot with:
1) a win against Wiregrass Ranch on 10/30 AND a Tarpon Springs win against Hudson on 10/30 AND a win against Ridgewood on 11/6 AND a Wiregrass Ranch win against Hudson on 11/6, which would clinch a three-way tiebreaker for the runner-up spot, AND a first place finish in that tiebreaker.
Ridgewood has been eliminated from playoff contention.
