After four innings at Williamsport, Pa., the Citrus Park All-Stars are locked in a 1-1 tie with Shelton, Conn., at the Little League World Series.
Citrus Park took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Kevin Merrell led off with double. Pinch-runner Daniel Martin advanced to third on a ground out, then Danny Lastra delivered a two-out RBI single.
Citrus Park starter Wyatt Reid nearly worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the bottom of the fourth, gathering two strikeouts. Then pinch-hitter Jason Hafele beat out a deep grounder to shortstop, knocking in the tying run.
If Citrus Park wins, it advances to Thursday night’s U.S. semifinals. If Citrus Park loses, it is eliminated from the tournament.
