Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike has had surgery to repair a damaged plate in his non-throwing arm, leaving his status uncertain for No. 5 Cincinnati’s game against Louisville.
Pike broke his left forearm last season and had a plate and six screws inserted. He damaged the plate during a win at South Florida last Thursday night.
The senior saw a specialist on Monday and participated in a light practice with a cast on the forearm. After consulting another specialist, he chose to have the surgery on Tuesday. Coach Brian Kelly said Pike hopes to return to practice on Thursday.
The unbeaten Bearcats (6-0) play the Cardinals (2-4) on Saturday.
