FC Tampa Bay Rowdies midfielder Jeremy Christie is expected to return to practice on Thursday, rejoining the sqaud after representing New Zealand at the World Cup in South Africa. He is scheduled to arrive in Tampa late on Tuesday night and will get a day off to recover from the travel on Wednesday.

Christie appeared twice as a substitute for the All Whites in games against Slovakia and Italy, both of which ended in 1-1 draws. New Zealand tied all three of its group games, finishing third in Group F, falling just short of advancement to the round of 16. Prior to his selection to the New Zealand squad, Christie had started all five games for the Rowdies, scoring a goal and adding an assist.

Whether Christie will be available for this Sunday’s game against Miami FC at Steinbrenner Field is yet to be determined, but his restorement to the line-up would be a big boost to a side trying to end a four-game losing streak in USSF Division II play.

Thanks for the news, Nick! It would be great to see Christie play on Sunday, even if it’s off the bench. Should be a good one!
