Plant City native Chevelle Hallback has a chance to earn the WIBA light welterweight belt when she faces title-holder Holly Holm Friday night at Isleta Casino & Resort in Albuquerque, NM.
This event, dubbed “Warrior Vengence”, will be the first time Hallback (27-5-2, 11 KOs) has stepped into the boxing ring since beating Jeannine Garside via split decision in June 2008.
Holm (26-1-3, 7 KOs) represents the last person to defeat Hallback in the ring. The two faced each other in 2007 at Tingley Coliseum in New Mexico where Holm collected a unanimous decision victory.
To ward off any remnants of that last fight, Hallback, the IFBA champion, hired German strength and conditioning coach Torsten Kanzmeier, who has worked with the likes of Vitali Klitschko, Khoren Gevor, Firat Arslan and Sascha Dimitrenko.
According to Kanzmeier, Hallback is looking for a knockout victory.
The night’s co-main event will pit Victoria Cisneros against Terri Blair. Also on the card: Randy Arrellin vs. Salvador Zamora; Fernando Reyes vs. Eric McElroy; David Proa vs. Jonathan Arias; and Josh Torres vs. Chase Corbin.
