Miami Northwestern DT Todd Chandler’s verbal commitment to USF seems to be getting softer by the day.
According to Scout.com site USFNation, Chandler won’t make his official visit to USF this weekend. He plans to visit FSU on Jan. 29 and South Carolina apparently is rushing to set up an official visit for Chandler.
Chandler has already visited Louisville, Syracuse and Colorado State.
USF assistant Larry Scott visited Chandler on Wednesday in hopes of keeping Chandler locked into his commitment. Chandler once lived in Tampa and according to various reports, his mother still makes her home here, so taking an “official visit’’ is probably not that huge since he likely has some familiarity with Tampa and USF’s campus.
Based on recruiting threads I’ve read, Louisville appears to be the clear front-runner in landing Chandler since former Florida assistant Charlie Strong took over the program.

He’s No. 67 on the ESPNU 150, the only USF recruit to rank on the list…so according to the recruiting experts, Chandler is the most talented player to commit to USF in the 2010 class. It would be a big commitment if Chandler stuck with USF, but looks unlikely at this point.
