National Signing Day is sort of like spring training in baseball—optimism is at a peak regardless of past performance.
The optimism bubbled in the last hour inside the USF football offices when Miami Northwestern DT Todd Chandler made his commitment official by signing with the Bulls.
USF assistants Kevin Patrick and Larry Scott were visibly excited about Chandler’s addition to the class during an interview a few minutes ago that was streamed live on the Internet.
Here is what Patrick said about the class overall, which stands at 17 and should grow to 18 very shortly when Hillsborough High’s Terrence Mitchell officially sends his letter-of-intent to USF:
“These guys can come in and make an impact,’’ Patrick said. “They can help us continue to take the program to the next level. We are really excited about this class. We’ve got the right guys in.’’
