Former Chamberlain baseball player Alberto Benejan, a 2010 graduate, was named one of 12 winners from across the nation of a $5,000 annual college scholarship sponsored by Major League Baseball.
Benejan was eligible for the scholarship after competing in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program. The “RBI for RBI” Scholarship Fund was created by MLB in 2008 to help provide support for student-athletes who compete in an RBI league.
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, leadership skills and community service, according to a press release announcing the recipients.
