Chamberlain head coach Joe Severino needed a defensive coordinator and his search led him to a former Tampa Bay Buccaneer.

Richard “Batman” Wood is the new Chiefs defensive coordinator. He replaces Kirk Karsen who left to join Sickles new head coach Brian Turner. Wood, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and Bucs linebacker from 1976-84, isn’t new to high school coaching. In only one year as Wharton’s head coach, Wood led the Wildcats to the 5A state championship game.
Severino also made two other hires. Melvin McCray will coach defensive backs and Antonio Banks will coach receivers.
