Just four picks after his younger brother was selected in the 10th round of the MLB draft on Tuesday, Reggie Williams Jr. had his name called.
The Brooks-DeBartolo High product, who played this past season at Middle Georgia Junior College, was selected in the 10th round (319th overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals. His younger brother, Jadamion, was taken with the 315th pick by the Minnesota Twins.
This is the second consecutive year Williams Jr. has been selected in baseball’s amateur draft. He was a 32nd round pick by the Texas Rangers in 2009.
Williams Jr., an outfielder, hit .327 with 11 doubles, seven home runs, 24 RBIs, 59 runs scored and stole 33 bases in 40 games for Middle Georgia in 2010.
