The schedule this week says Charleston Southern, everything else screams out Florida State.
How can every living, breathing USF coach, player and fan admit they’re not looking ahead to next week’s visit to Florida State and past this week’s doesn’t-count-toward-bowl-eligibility-exhibition with Charleston Southern?
I know the old cliché’ says take it one blog at a time, but I can’t help but look ahead.
So let’s take a peek: when USF visits Florida State on Sept. 26, what would be your guess how many points Florida State will be favored by? Pick a number. Any number. Now, this does not mean you don’t think USF can’t win, but just how many points the Seminoles would be favored over USF and remember teams are rated at least 3-points better when playing on their home field.
OK, here’s the scoop:
The Seminoles are expected to only be about a 3-1/2 to 4-point favorite, said America’s Line and VegasVigorish.com’s Ben Epstein, who is responsible for setting the opening lines in Vegas.
Playing at home, FSU is basically a field goal favorite over USF? That’s just another indication how far USF’s program has come or how far FSU’s has fallen – or a combination of both.
Epstein added that if FSU loses at BYU Saturday by 10 points or more, FSU probably would be only a 1-1/2 to 2-point favorite against USF. If FSU upsets BYU, the Seminoles would be favored by 5-1/2 to 6-points against the Bulls.
The official line will not be determined until Sunday night.
Picks contest: Even though we’re looking ahead to next week, don’t forget this week’s picks contest. Remember it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

If USF ends up being a 3 pt. dog or less that’s as good as even…FSU, is only getting those points due to home-field.
FSU will lose to BYU and further hurt their ego plus any player bumps and bruises that may occur…I forsee a very hapy ending for USF on the 26th.
One point more is all USF needs.

I’ve been looking ahead for 3 weeks. My wife is an FSU grad so bragging rights are at stake. Now all we need to do is find somewhere to watch, thanks ESPN for the U.
I know that USF’s schedule is not the best during the first 3 weeks but having this game vs a pesky FIU squad may work to USF’s advantage. The team may be rested enough and “practiced” enough through the first 3 weeks that they may outperform FSU on the field. Couple that with that fact that FSU has not done as well as expected and it would not surprise me if USF won.

Hoping FSU takes out a very overrated BYU team this weekend. Seems like Brett is even caught up in the Mormon charade out of Provo and is drinking the kool aid. Can’t believe people watched the same game I did and didn’t realize how much of a difference not having Sam Bradford on the field meant in that game. Either way, I expect to see FSU coming to Tally with a 2-1 record and a lot of energy in facing our Bulls.

Terry, OU may have won if Bradford played the entire game, but when Bradford was in the game, BYU outgained OU 245-164. I’m not drinking any Kool-aid, just rewarding a team for beating a higher ranked opponent at a neutral site. As far as this week’s game, I think BYU beats FSU, so ‘Noles come limping home at 1-2 and will be a very desperate team against USF.

I think it’s a combination of USF rising and FSU taking some steps back.
I’d rather see FSU win this week and be a Top 25 team when we visit.
