Camp Go Round 2

So the English chap is talking receivers. Here are my thoughts:

The venerable Joey Galloway is back. I’m tired of talking about how old he is and that he may be losing a step. Forget it. What we need is a quarterback who can get the ball to him in space! (That’s my Brett Favre plug… did you catch it?) I mean, the man has had to stop and or come back to balls from Jeff Garcia - no spring chicken himself - and Bruce Gradkowski the last couple seasons. Look for another thousand yard campaign from the old man.

My British friend has tired of talk about a resurgent Michael Clayton. I haven’t. I’ve seen what he can do when he’s healthy and I contend that he hasn’t been healthy since his rookie campaign. If he can revisit the exploits of that rookie year, we will have some fun for sure.

Ike Hilliard is another of the gray beards, but he seems to make that clutch catch every time we need him to. I like Ike.

Maurice Stovall has always been overrated in my book. I’d like to see something… anything… from him. And Antonio Bryant, to me, simply looks like this year’s version of David Boston, but we’ll see.

I’m rather interested to see what the rookie Dexter Jackson has to offer. I like the thought of Paris Warren getting another shot.

One parting thought on the receiver corps: For all of you fans out there frustrated that we didn’t blow some coin on a top tier receiver in the off-season, keep in mind that list of gems our chum mentions in his blog - Alvin Harper? Bert Emanuel?

I’m not commenting on this article.  You’ve been pretty coy (or quiet) about the whole Brett Favre thing.

Now he’s a J-E-T.  I think this is a good thing for the Bucs as far as not having that mess in camp.  But more to the point, how does a Pennington to Minnesota trade look?

Pennington is another Brad Johnson, only probably with more anger.  So I think that’s the big losing proposition for the Bucs.  Methinks Minnosota wins the lottery.

You?

I disagree with you about Clayton and Stovall . Clayton has had all kinds of chances and has shown a tendency to drop the ball at crucial times. If he has been injured he was still well enough to play and you have to take care of the ball and he hasn’t. I still think Stovall could turn to be a good wr for the Bucs but you are right he hasn’t shown to much yet .

The very best of what he's produced are four wonderful girls - Amanda, Katie, Becky and Emily - he managed to pull that off along with his lovely wife Shari. Together they all live in a red house surrounded by lots of trees in the same community with lots of really great people. He is known to hang out on Sunday mornings with people of a much higher caliber than he, and counts that among life's greatest privileges. Then, on Sunday afternoons, Darin and his family settle in for the full slate of NFL games, shouting loudest when the Buccaneers take the field.
