Former Jefferson High football star Andre Caldwell turned in another huge play late in a game Sunday to help the Cincinnati Bengals pull out a win.
Caldwell caught a 20-yard scoring pass from Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer with 22 seconds remaining to help Cincinnati stun the Baltimore Ravens, 17-14.
It was the second time this season Caldwell, a second-year pro out of the University of Florida, caught a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds. On Sept. 27, he hauled in a 4-yard reception from Palmer with 14 seconds remaining to help the Bengals knock off the Pittsburgh Steelers, 23-20.
Caldwell currently ranks second on the Bengals in receptions (18), yards (181) and touchdown receptions (two), behind Chad Ochocinco in each category.
Tribune staff writer Joey Johnston wrote more on Caldwell on today’s TBO.com Wake-Up Call, which also has notes on other athletes with local ties.
