Cadillac Says “It’s Severe”

Posted Sep 30, 2007 by Anwar S. Richardson

Updated Sep 30, 2007 at 08:24 PM

It is believed to be that Bucs RB Cadillac Williams tore the patella tendon in his right knee during Tampa Bay’s 20-7 victory against Carolina.

Williams was on crutches after Tampa Bay’s 20-7 victory against Carolina and would not elaborate, but was not optimistic about his injury.

“I don’t know what it is. All I know is it’s severe,” Williams said.

Williams hurt his right knee during the first quarter against Carolina after a hit by Panthers safety Chris Harris. He was in agony after the injury and taken off the field in a golf cart. He is expected to have an MRI on Monday to access the damage.

In addition, Bucs left tackle Luke Petitgout he sprained his right knee and also plans to have more details tomorrow.

“I shouldn’t be out long,” Petitgout said.

Cadillac is going to “access” the damage on Monday? Did not know he was a surgeon and was going to perform his own operation. Maybe we need to “access’’ spelling abilities here. Ouch. That hurts worse than the injury itself. Hope Caddy fares OK and the Bucs continue to roll.

Hang in there Cadillac.  You will get through this. Your Auburn family as well as your Buc family are praying for you.  You are a true team player and we all believe in you.  God bless and War Eagle.

Well all of you Cadillac haters out there got your wish, it’s Graham and Pittman for the remainder of the season.  But prior to the injury, Caddy looked really good.  Also, anyone see their new favorite back (graham) get stuffed 4 times from inside the 5?

I agree with Michael. I’d swear the trib has the worst proofreaders. Not the first time and unfortunately probably not the last.

come on with the spelling jab, they can’t afford proof readers any more.  i mean, do you expect college grads?

  i mean i cannot punctuate.

  GO BUCS, GET WELL FELLAS

Year #1: Bad Foot
Year #2: Bad Back
Year #3: Bruised Ribs; Severe Knee Injury.

First and foremost, from a human being standpoint: I defintely pray for Cadillac’s health and concede that football is just a game.

From a football fan’s prespective:

1) Never should have been drafted. Knock from day 1, prior to the draft…durability and injury concerns. Not big/strong enough to take an NFL pounding 16 games a year.

2)Adrian Peterson is looking really, really good right now
(See Gaines Adams)

3) No hands out of the backfield, insane amount of “fumbles” at the worse possible times throught his career.

Time to rally behind H2& EG!!

R.I.P the Yugo, formerly known as Cadillac

Caddy I know you will be in the backfield again! Tough luck but we love you and know you can still be a big part of your winning Bucs!

You will be alright Cadillac. Hopefully you will be able to come back this season, but if not, the team will not let you down. All of us Bucs fans love you Cadillac and you will return to Pro Bowl form soon. We’re all behind you and the entire Bucs team!!!
Go BUCS and CADILLAC!!!!!!!!

It was nice of you to stop bye and offer those 4 words to Caddy…..the rest was a waste of time

Actually, Michael, you need to brush up on your grammar skills. “Assess” is a transitive verb, and requires both an indirect object and subject. In the reporter’s sentence, “damage” is the indirect object and “MRI” is the subject, not “He”.  (I would have used italics if I was able to). Furthermore, an MRI does not require a surgeon. And my prayers go out to Cadillac too. GO BUCS!!

Por (Michael Smithers) on September 30, 2007 (Suggest removal)

Yo, Mark. Brush up on your reading skills. The reporter used “access’’ when he should have used “assess.’’ You must have gone to UF or FSU, I surmise.

How about C.J. Spiller?

The question for me is: When Cadillac returns next year, what will be expected of him? Three years, 3 sets of injuries. Will they want to plan for him as a feature back anymore? I don’t think so - it’d be nuts. I see him as a 3rd down/change of pace back. He needs to work on his ball skills and become a better receiver and pass protector. I think his days of planning on 25-30 carries are over with.

Por (Rob Berube) on September 30, 2007 (Suggest removal)

Dan, I think you can do better than that. Why kick a man when he is down? In my opinion you should have kept your comments to yourself. Whether or not you belive in Cadillacs ability or durability he deserves more respect than you’ve shown on this forum. I do not think his effort is lacking or can be questioned. All we can ask of anyone is to give 100% to the cause and Cadillac Williams has done so. I will admit he has been Injured more than we would prefer, but I know I could not do what he does. How about you? Can you run the ball in the N F L. If you can go see Gruden tommorow and become our gameday saviour! If not keep your stupid thoughts in your little brain.

I guess my earlier comments were a little too harsh for the editors to accept so I guess I will try a different tact.  Thank you Mark Pifer for your grammer lesson.  It is people like you that make it a pure joy for those of us who just don’t know the basics of life.  I personally can’t wait for your next pearl of wisdom so that I may sleep well tonight.

This is a bad break for the Bucs, I do feel however, that Michael Pittman and Earnest Graham are more than capable of carrying the torch “if they are used correctly” i.e. create mismatches with Pittman and linebackers and use graham for a more “pounding” the football game. I think we do need to improve a little with our pass rush, I still don’t see us as “going for the jugular” when we have the chance. I think Gruden was way to conservative in the second half. Though it did not backfire against a banged up Carolina team, it could backfire against a team like the Colts who can score points in quick bunches.

GO BUCS!

If I remember correctly we also had a running back at one time that fumbled at some key points in games past. With more game experience he shed the image of a fumbler and turned out to be a pretty good NFL running back. That’s right Dan, I’m talking about Mike Alstott. Williams missed alot of playing time last year so give him some time. He’ll be a good one!!

Por (Dan Wesley) on September 30, 2007 (Suggest removal)

Maybe I was too harsh? I don’t think so, everything I have layed out is factual…

I’ll give him a break, when he stays healthy

I know of a running back with bigger brains, heart and smaller frame…playing for 10+ years now
(See future HOF Warrick Dunn)

Ken: We all know Cadillac Williams is nowhere near the caliber of running back, receiver, athlete, person, ETC… of future HOF Mike Alstott…put down the Kool-Aid, that is insulting.

Rob: Kick him while he’s down? When can I comment, criticize, praise Mr. Williams when 50+% of the time he’s injured. (See bad foot, back, ribs, knee etc..)

Yugo is a bust, plain and simple.

Cadillac, you’re in GREAT hands with Dr Andrews in Birmingham. The entire staff at Alabama Sports Medicine is incredible, and I know you couldn’t have a better doctor to get you back on your feet.
As for the Bucs, you’ll be fine without him. It’s been a running back by committee approach anyway, and it’s starting to really work out. As long as the D’s performance is the real deal week in and out, I expect the Bucs to win the division and host a playoff game, if not win a couple.
GO BUCS!

Por (Mike Dawson) on October 01, 2007 (Suggest removal)

They had better resign Darby and get him into the mix ASAP. Such a move could provide an overall “hard-nosed” running game for the Bucs.

Dan, Like I’ve said there is an opening for the position of running back at One Buc Place. You probably know the address. Why don’t you go over and see If YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO POUND THE ROCK. I would enjoy watching you. Let see how healthy you are after about 2 carries let alone 20 carries. As a fan I can understand your expectations are high, but Injuries can not be game planned they happen at the worst of times. If your teammate gives you 100% can you ask for more? Bye the way in you next post please tell us what your uniform # is so I can see how well you do at Inddy.

I liked the teams demonstrated concern for Caddilac Williams injury during the game. It shows that this team is really together. The Bucs are still in fine shape with Pittman and Graham back there. Bring up the kid from Bama and bring back in another RB for the taxi squad.
