TAMPA - The Bucs have until Wednesday to make a decision on whether to activate RB Cadillac Williams, but it seems the decision has already been made.
Williams has responded well to the contact drills the Bucs put him through the past couple weeks and it seems he will be added to the 53-man roster Wednesday.
“It’s almost like Christmas is here and Christmas is Wednesday,’’ Bucs coach Jon Gruden said. “If my eyes don’t deceive me, I think he’s got a chance to be a player this year for our team.’‘
Williams agrees. He said he felt fine running through the contact drills the past couple weeks and is “good to go.’‘
The timing couldn’t be better. The Bucs are a little banged up in the backfield, with Warrick Dunn (back) and Earnest Graham (knee) both ailing. Dunn and Graham should be ready to go by Sunday’s game against the Vikings, though, which means Williams probably will be eased back into action.
Gruden even went so far as to say Williams is not ready to be a feature back again. So, there’s a chance Williams could be added to the roster but inactive for this week’s game as well as several others. Just having Williams back, though, could give the Bucs a boost.
“It’s inspirational,’’ linebacker Derrick Brooks said.

Great, put him in and lets see if he still has it, I’m betting he does. If he is the Caddy of his Rookie Year, that will ad more punch to our running game,Dunn & Grahmn are great but you can never get too much. As for FLBUCS1, most of us would like to win THIS YEAR pal!

It would be nice to see him back, he may never be the back he was in his first half year but if he is even 75% he will be a good fit for the bucs. I wish him good luck and hope he can come back and be the back he was before.

I lived in Tampa until just a few months ago, I would love to see him come back and bring the Buc’s back. He’s a great player.

Don’t put him back on the roster!Wait til next yr! Dunn, Graham, and Bennett are sufficient! I doubt he’ll ever return to rookie yr form!!

Whoopie Ding! Pardon me if I don’t get excited. Before the injury he wasn’t the same as his first year. Speaking of Ding. The Cadillac dings up a little too easily for my liking. I’ll take Ernest and Warrick. But I would love to eat crow on this one. Who knows, the Caddy may come back hungry. But my suggestion: don’t get your hopes up. His cleets are in the HOF. That’s about all that’s gonna end up there.
