Jordan Burgess is going to need another shelf.
On Monday morning during a ceremony at Berkeley Prep, the senior outside hitter accepted her 2011 Miss Volleyball Award from Florida Dairy Farmers. Burgess, who will play for Stanford University, became the first repeat winner of the award in its 20-year history. She won it last year as a junior.
“It’s a huge honor,” she said. “I’m extremely grateful that the Florida Dairy Farmers provide this award to volleyball because I think it deserves to be recognized. It’s great that we have support around the state.

Burgess was the majority selection for the award after leading the Buccaneers to the Class 4A state championship. This season, Burgess posted 533 kills, 366 digs and 48 aces. She ended her career as Berkeley’s all-time leader in kills with 1,792.
Burgess, who was named the ESPN Rise National Junior of the Year and Tampa Tribune Girls Volleyball Athlete of the Year last year, should expect to be named the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. That award will be announced next week. Burgess should also be considered for National Player of the Year.
During the ceremony, head coach Randy Dagostino received his Coach of the Year Award from Dairy Farmers. Dagostino won the award last year and has won three overall.
“It’s a great honor,” Dagostino said. “We have a great program and every year, the kids buy into what we’re trying to do.”
Berkeley went 30-2 this season under Dagostino, the state’s most active winningest coach with 829 career wins, and was ranked as high as second in the nation. Burgess and Dagostino were named 4A Player and Coach of the Year to become finalists for the award.
