The All-Big East Conference teams will officially be announced on Wednesday in voting done by the eight league coaches.
If media selections are an indication, you can expect USF DE Jason Pierre-Paul, LB Kion Wilson and S Nate Allen on the first-team. DE George Selvie on the second-team, and perhaps WR Carlton Mitchell and OL Zach Hermann on the third-team.
So far, the two most notable All-Big East teams released come via ESPN.com and Phil Steele.

Please tell me that was a misprint on Phil Steele’s 1st Team selections. If Jerome Murphy is the best corner the Big East has to offer then the league is in trouble.

KoozeeKingdom:
No misprint; All-conference teams and All-America teams have some legitimacy, but there’s always a few head scratchers as well. Murphy is obviously one that I’m sure caught a few folks by surprise, but he has been a valuable part of USF’s secondary, and all it takes is for a few people to convince the rest of the voters ... i.e. FSU’s Myron Rolle being named third-team All-American in 2008…no way that guy was one of the six best safeties in America; great student, valuable ambassador to the program and decent player, but he was a name-recognition pick only.
Thanks for checking in.

I can think of quite a few players who I would have put on that team before Murphy, but then I realized WE didn’t put him on there, EVERY TEAM WE PLAYED voted for him, and he won in a landslide. Murphy was the best player on every OTHER team in the Big East.
To be fair, he is a tremendous athlete who made several boneheaded plays each game, and a few expensive penalties in most games, usually followed by a few terrific plays each game. But to me it didn’t balance out in his favor. Tresey better have a more consistant player to replace him next year.
