Hey folks, made it up to Newport, Rhode Island, safely last night for the Big East Football Media Days event here the next two days.
Before we get to football, in case you missed it here is a tease to a basketball story in Sunday’s edition of The Tampa Tribune about the USF men’s basketball team’s trip to Brazil later this week:
TAMPA— The large three-ring binder that has served as Barry Clements’ sidekick for much of the summer contains more than just flight itineraries, hotel accommodations and game schedules.
The notebook holds pieces of a story that the University of South Florida men’s basketball team will share over and over in coming years - the summer when USF transformed into USA.
“It was just a phenomenal opportunity that you want to make it work however you can,” said Clements, a senior associate athletic director at the school.

Scott, Do you know if Paul Tagliabue is going to be at the meetings to maybe summarize his consulting assignment and/or findings?

Brian, I was told that Tagliabue will not be at the meetings in the morning. Commissioner John Marinatto will address the media about some of the items Tagliabue is working on.
I am told that Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary under President Bush, is scheduled to attend. He runs a sports communications firm now and has been doing work on behalf of the BCS.
