SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The University of South Florida Bulls have broken on top 7-0 against the Syracuse Orange with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter. Running back Mike Ford raced in with a 26-yard touchdown to cap an eight-play, 62-yard drive.
And that followed a frantic beginning, in which there were five turnovers in the game’s first five minutes (three by Syracuse, two by USF—on the Bulls’ first two plays from scrimmage, no less).
But the Bulls settled down and redshirt freshman quarterback B.J. Daniels looked particularly shap with a pair of third-down conversion completions, amid Syracuse pressure and suffocating noise inside the Carrier Dome.
Again, it’s USF 7, Syracuse 0, midway through the first quarter.
