GAINESVILLE—So much for any worries about nerves from the University of South Florida Bulls, who have broken out to a 7-0 lead against the Florida Gators.
The Bulls got a 2-yard touchdown pass from QB B.J. Daniels to TE Andrew Ketchel with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter.
In what might be remembered as the most impressive drive in the school’s football history, the Bulls went 96 yards in 17 plays, wiping 9:58 off the clock.
After limiting the Gators to three-and-out on the opening drive, the Bulls had nine consecutive running plays before attempting a pass.
Key plays in the drive were a 12-yard keeper by QB B.J. Daniels on third-and-1, a 12-yard slant pass from Daniels to WR Dontavia Bogan on third-and-8, then a 21-yard option run by WR Lindsey Lamar.
