Buenning, McFarland In Limbo

There’s still an uncertainty whether starters Anthony McFarland and Dan Buenning will be able to play against Baltimore on Sunday.

McFarland, the Bucs starting defensive tackle, is expected to practice this afternoon when the team begins preparations for the regular-season opener against the Ravens. Buenning, the starting left guard, isn’t sure whether he will be ‘’allowed’’ to practice.

‘’I feel pretty good,’’ McFarland said. ‘’Everything’s good. Everything feels good. I’m ready to go practice today. I expect to practice today and we’ll go from there.’’

McFarland injured his groin in the third preseason game against Jacksonville. He did not play in the final exhibition game against Houston. Buenning sprained his left ankle in the Bucs’ opening series against the Texans.

He had been walking around in a protective boot, but as of Wednesday, he did not need that support.

‘’It’s really day-to-day,’’ Buenning said. ‘’It’s getting better.’’

Ellis Wyms would start in McFarland’s place if he is unable to go, and Jeb Terry would fill in for Buenning.

‘’I’m going to be working at all sorts of positions and we’ll see what happens when the week comes,’’ Terry said. ‘’You just have to prepare like you’re going to play and that’s what I’m trying to do.’’

Stay tuned this afternoon when the official injury report is released and we find out who practiced with the first team.
