Q: How dose Bruce Allen feel about bringing in Donnovan Darius? He would be a nice upgrade over the Bucs’ starting safeties so what do you think the chances are of the Bucs landing Darius? — Tyler Ellrodt, Seminole
A: Bruce briefly discussed Darius recently. He said the Bucs have been in contact with him but added that it was only window shopping. Darius apparently called the Bucs with some questions. My guess is the Bucs will pass.

You’ve got to remember Alex that the Tampa 2 safeties are nearly interchangeable, meaning both Darius and Piscatelli could play at the same time. Whether or not he can play the Tampa 2 I guess can be answered by the fact that a very slow J Lynch was able to do just fine. It’s all about knowing your assignments and having a nose for the football, which I think Darius has proven a knack for. My biggest concern is injuries as he has been prone over the past couple of years.

The bucs will not take darius. They have invested a 2nd rd pick on a SS in Sabby, the same position Darius plays. This won’t happen. Especailly with the money he would cost. Yes he’s good, but would he fit in a cover 2 defense?

Donovan Darius and Sabby Piscitelli would be a great team. Two big athletic safeties to play the cover 2! Allen and Philips can get their water for them also.

Darius is a phenomenal safety; easily top 10 in the league. If we signed him, I would give an A+ to the Bucs in impact offseason acquisitions (OLT, DT, QB, LB & S.) C’mon Bruce, fire the cannons!!!

I don’t know if we should count the bucs out of getting darius. I think he would he would be a good teacher for sabby back there. I don’t know if buc fans want the future saftey learning jermaine phillps. that dude looks lost in space all the time. Lets not mention both games against the saints

well if you look at the safties we have donovan darius will be nothing but a major upgrade come on will allen and jermaine phillips look i a a madden gamer and i trade them on there, so come on get donovan on this team and go back to the playoffs
