The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced it has signed Oakland free agent linebacker Jon Alston. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Alston, a four-year veteran, wasn’t tendered by the Raiders, making him an unrestricted free agent who can sign with any NFL team. A former third-round pick out of Stanford by the Rams (77th overall) in 2006, he had 23 tackles last season in nine games, four starts, before going on injured reserve following a pair of concussions.
Overall, Alston has played in 39 games with eight starts. He has recorded 66 tackles, one pass defensed and two forced fumbles in his career. Over the past three seasons Alston has added 20 special teams tackles.
