Bucs Should Heavily Consider Trading For Brandon Marshall

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are facing a serious of dilemma.

Receiver Antonio Bryant is going to be an unrestricted free agent and there are no guarantees the Bucs will give him the long term contract and major money he wants. If Bryant walks, Tampa Bay will be left without its only proven deep threat at receiver in 2010. Bucs General Manager Mark Dominik said his team would not be big players in free agency, so one move makes sense.

According to the Denver Post, the Broncos will trade Brandon Marshall soon after free agency begins Broncos Expect To Trade Marshall Although he is a tremendous talent, every NFL team knows Marshall wants out of Denver (and vice-versa), so any team interested in him will not have to give up something significant, like a first round pick. The Bucs have 10 draft picks, so trading one of those picks for Marshall could really help this team.

Bucs writer Roy Cummings believes Josh Freeman needs taller receivers to play better. Well Roy, Marshall is 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds.

For those who question Marshall’s character, Tampa Bay’s roster is full of guys who once had bad reputations and have been model citizens since joining this organization (Antonio Bryant, Kellen Winslow and Jerramy Stevens come to mind). Sometimes a change of scenary really helps a player. If we’re really honest, most Bucs fans would rather have a receiver named to the Pro Bowl than a guy who wins a Man of The Year Award.

If the Bucs truly are building around Freeman, Marshall is a weapon he could really use.

Imagine this 25-year old playmaker in a Bucs uniform:
