Q: I know that the NFL Draft is around the corner and soon it’ll be here and I keep seeing these mock drafts with the Bucs taking Calvin Johnson at No. 4. We’ve spent the last three drafts using the top pick on offense and it’s time that we look at the other side of the ball and take a franchise DE (Gaines Adams) with the pick simply because Simeon Rice is coming off a year with injuries and you never really know how that shoulder will truly heal. Also, Dewayne White’s a free agent and could walk if the money’s good and a starter’s job is promised, Greg Spires’ better days are behind him and he carries a cap number, and there’s nothing special about the depth at end. — Mike Cena, Houston

Jason’s right. If we drafted for need instead of best player available, we’ll be kicking ourselves for years (like the Texans will probably do after passing on Reggie Bush). Yes, CJ21 (Calvin Johnson) is THAT good.

I couldn’t agree less. You have to go best player available and the best player in the draft is Calvin Johnson. Joey Galloway may retire after this coming season leaving us with who??? Micheal “One Year Wonder” Clayton and Maurice Stovall? This year’s draft is loaded with defensive depth. If Calvin Johnson’s staring you in the face at 3 or 4 you take him and draft defense in rounds two and three where there’ll be plenty of talent left later in day one.

Roy,
After hearing the swirling rumors about the Ravens dumping Jamal Lewis, I can’t help but to imagine him in the pewter and red next season with Cadillac. Please tell me Gruden and Allen will be giving Lewis’ agent a call.
