TAMPA - It appears the Bucs have missed out on two of the corners they were targeting.
Drayton Florence, who visited Tampa on Friday, has signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Jacques Reeves, who who never even made it to Tampa, has reportedly signed with the Houston Texans.
Fear not, though; Randall Gay, the best of the three free-agent corners the Bucs have expressed interest in, is still available, and he’s committed to come to Tampa for a visit on Monday.
Gay is visiting with the Saints today but the Saints will have to blow him away with an offer to keep him from visitng Tampa Bay, according to Gay’s agent. That’s good news for the Bucs.
It’s never a good sign when a player leaves a visit without agreeing to a contract. It gives the other teams a chance to really impress a player and the Bucs will have that opportunity with Gay come Monday.

Joe Jurevicious, not Keyshawn or Keenan, was the receiver that made the difference. We have a #1 in Joey, we need a #2 and an X-factor. Bryant Johnson and Javon Walker, would supply the #2 and and X-Factor and gear up for the future without Galloway. RBs,Barber, no matter how much money it takes. He is a featured back, fast and powerful. Just not sold on Graham. QB for now and the future is solid with Garcia and McCown. OL has come into it’s own and the addition of Faine adds youth and talent. I can’t break down the Defense because they have let every talent on the defensive side go else where….I guess Kiffin got one year of attention and is forgotten that he and his defense was the only reason that we won a superbowl. Wake up Jon!

Mkurbo-i’m not saying go out and spend the bank but Allen said he would be aggresive in free agency. We still have no pass rush-the CB position need to be upgraded-but more important no pass rush.We should have been in some of those trades for a DT.We have the money to bring in Samuel and we didn’t do anything,Gay is gone to the saints-lets sign more backups-we’re good at that.Jason Taylor want to leave Miami,i say go for the trade now-a 4th or 5th pick because Parcell said Taylor would have to retire if he plan not to play for Miami. You said you know Allen right-give him a call.

“You can’t just replace Brian Kelly with Randall Gay, that will not get the job done.”
I don’t know, I kind of think you can. Gay’s a pretty solid CB. If you take him and then draft someone with the first pick, you should have a deep and talented secondary for at least 3 years. I’m more concerned about receiver.

The Bucs should pick up Mike Jenkins in the draft if avaliable with their 1st pick. He has the attitude that would fit well with the rest of the secondary and the would give them the size they lack right now. I watched Jenkins for 4 years at USF and he has developed into a great player and has 4.3 speed and can return kickoffs too.

Dex – I’m a Allen and Gruden supporter. I think they’ve done a great job and Allen is the reason we have unlimited cap space.
However, I very disappointed in the way they have handled this free agency period. We only had a few positions to address and the impact players WERE there to fill those slots. It was very disturbing today to watch the 49ers sign J. Smith and that contact was NOT over the top. The NFL Network is posting the top ten FA impact signings and the Bucs with the most cap space are not in the top ten… ..enough said !

ALL of you Allen supporters-where are you now.We are not set to meet with a receiver yet-second day of free agency we sign a third string TE-ARE YOU KIDDING ME!WE OVER PAY A CENTER AND SIGN A THIRD STRING TE!GOOD JOB ALLEN.43 MILLION DOLLARS!ALL OF THE DT AND CB ARE GONE-POSITIONS THAT WE REALLY NEED.WHAT A JOKE!

The bucs really need to sign Briggs. We have no big name players and this is not attracting other players to come here. Allen has came here and destroyed this team.Give Briggs the money-Brooks is just about done and Briggs is better than both June and Brooks.

I agree we need to contact J. Walker and D.J. Hackett get these guys in here!! B. Johnson I believe is still available, he’s not a #1 wr but he maybe the best of the remaining FA, however I heard he visited the Bills so he’ll probably sign with them! Whatever happened to the “Tiger Woods” type FA we’ve heard of signing ??

Ok… I think I’m tired of everyone. From the reports to the fans. As a buc fan I know where my place is… in the stands and not the front office. Do you really think that the Bucs aren’t thinking about the pass rush. I know they are thinking about going and getting a YOUNG KID from the draft like a Trevor Law from Notre Dame. And guess what, you don’t need to pay him that much because he’ll be there in the second round. Everyone will see on Monday that the Bucs will get their wideout and cb on Monday. DJ Hackett played the West Coast system from Holgrem who taught Gruden what he knows. Please guys, don’t think we the fans know everything that goes on behind closed doors.

The Bucs are definitely giving paying customers their monies worth so far.

Maybe it’s some of the fans who visit these pages that are WHINERS! It’s not negative reporting, it’s just the truth. So far, the Bucs have not improved, they have let people go and have not upgraded the talent. You can’t just replace Brian Kelly with Randall Gay, that will not get the job done. They should go after Lito Sheppard or someone else who is actually a consistently proven starter!
And WIDE RECEIVER?? What are they waiting for? Stallworth and Berrian are gone. They need to go after Javon Walker and/or DJ Hackett before they miss on that too. These are proven players that fill a need.

CB’s are not the target we missed. The one area we needed to dramatically improve was the defensive line and pass rush…
Wilkerson is not going to get it ! – if the Bucs don’t sign Odom, or one of the other top d-line guys left in FA it will amount to a huge missed opportunity. I can’t believe they let Justin Smith sign with the 49ers ! They stood by as others traded Corey Williams (among others) and with all the cash on hand we should have made it the priority !!!

Did you ever think that the corners might have missed the target? Now I can’t speak for Reeves as he never made it to Tampa; however, Florence did visit and maybe after an up close and personal Florence wasn’t what we(the Bucs) wanted.
Gay will sign on Monday. He is the best available and he bucs will snatch him up for a more cap friendly contract.
I know, I know, we have a ton of cap space, so why be frugel…because we have more than just a Randy Moss hole to fill!

Why does the press in this area constantly try to spin things negatively with this team? I’ve been looking at Message Boards of other teams and there press releases and NOWHERE is as negative as it is here.
I am so sick of press here, as well as many other. Unfortunately, there are alot of simple minds buying into the garbage that the local hacks spew.
Pathetic. Its wearing thin and a huge backlash is near.

Dex – unlike most, I will admit that I’m embarrassed by what has occurred in this free agency period. As you all know, I’ve been a staunch supporter of this regime for a long time. I have fought tooth and nail with the local media on their negative bias. However, the Bucs have completely dropped the ball and there is no place to hide. Actually, I’m in shock and total disbelief over their lack movement to date.
Some guy keeps writing that the “sky is falling” as dig – he has no idea of the opportunity that has been lost by the Bucs. We had the platform to build on and the money to make the moves and they did “nothing:, absolutely nothing in this window of opportunity. Frankly, I’m ashamed…
