Bucs Report
Bucs Might Pursue Released DE Jason Taylor

Tampa Bay is in need of a pass rusher and the Bucs might finally have an opportunity to snag one.

The Washington Redskins just released DE Jason Taylor only a few days after signing DE Albert Haynesworth. This is something that doesn’t come as a surprise considering Taylor’s salary, age and tendency to get injured.

Redskins Release Jason Taylor

However, this might end up being great news for Buc fans.

We’ve been hearing from several sources since last week that this move was going to occur, and that once it did, Tampa Bay was going to heavily pursue Taylor. We hear so many rumors that we were hesitant to report it, but there might be something to it now.

It makes 100 percent sense because newly hired defensive coordinator Jim Bates coached Taylor in Miami and loves him. Tampa Bay also needs a great pass rusher who can mold Gaines Adams and Taylor would be the perfect fit.

Buc fans have been wanting a big free agent signing.

Now we’ll have to see if Taylor is big enough for Tampa Bay to pursue.

Eric,
That is too funny.. Your a year behind..lmao

Posted by  crash, Tampa on 03/02  at  07:31 PM

Brooks said they got rid of him to give younger players a chance.  Everybody said they must have a plan in place to get rid of some proven vets.  It doesn’t look to good for the new regime.  What are we thinking?  I hope something unbelievable happens before the season starts!!!!!!!!

Posted by  Eric, Tampa on 03/02  at  07:28 PM

Are the Bucs still in the running to get Favre?

Posted by  BucFandango, Sarasota on 03/02  at  07:26 PM

I agree with JVand on. Taylor won’t come cheap, the order of the day at 1 Suc Place. Taylor would wipe away every excuse these 2 idiots could use to justify cutting Brooks. I’m sick of hearing Dummynick doesn’t have any help in the office to contact & negotiate. He’s the boss & it’s his responsibility to fill these vacancies. It’s another cop out. If he can’t juggle signing 5 guys on the phone in a few hour period, he’s worthless. “Hello Albert, I’ll give you $45 mil guaranteed & $115 mil over 6 years” “OK Deal. Check U later”. “Hey Rocky, $15 mill guaranteed, and $25 Mill over 5 years.” “OK, great.” Next…Next…Next… How hard is it? Try being a Contractor you incompetent goofball. We know every lie in the book.

Let’s get rid of Brooks to get younger and pick up Taylor.  The Bucs need to make up there minds.  They have a great plan in place!!!

Posted by  Todd, PSJ on 03/02  at  07:22 PM

They might resign Derrick Brooks. Because I don’t know what kind of LB is going to be available in the 4th, 5th, or 6th round in the draft. There isn’t one left in the FA that could replace him.

Posted by  tatmanfish, tampa on 03/02  at  07:21 PM

taylor is old but would be a good sign. im surprised to see tbo atually refrained from reporting a rumor. i thought that was all they did? actually thats all they have reported since shorthly before FA. the only ones that werent rumors were the ones telling us who signed with who.

Posted by  Mike Oxley, Melbourne FL on 03/02  at  07:16 PM

hey weren’t we trying to get younger? i mean it would be a nice sign, but i would have much rather kept brooks than get taylor. we could have kept brooks and get taylor too! it doesnt make any sense to me, if the objective is to get younger.

Well, Nate Washington signs with TN Titans, T.J signs with Seattle.  WTF is going on in Tampa?  We need to get WR Devery Henderson.  On the defensive line, Chauncey Davis is the best available.  Just a wish list.  Nothing heard on Phillips.

Bring on Jason Taylor, He would bring a big additional to the Defensive Corp, and He will be showed that the Bucs will not be Un favorable. I see Taylor as playing this year and next at least. Now if they sign Taylor, Then lets get that RB Ward too boot. GO Bucs.

Posted by  Elard Andrews, Tampa, Fl on 03/02  at  06:15 PM

But if Jason Taylor does come in a Bucs uniform then he would retire as a buc as well so either or I don’t care who we bring in. I’m a loyal fan and I will support this team and I will be behind them 100% unlike you fans that arent satisfying a damn thing that the bucs get over it or go with another team to jump in a banwagon at least there are real fans that will support the bucs decisions.

You people are the most saddest fans that I have ever seen in my life. I know it was wrong that they cut Derrick Brooks boo hoo tears tears but eventually it was his time to go because of injuries even if he had a year or 2 left in him. Whatever we bring for the bucs to help the team it will be great because we need someone to step and play for us! The only thing that pissed me off the most was they cut Cato June which is no intentions why they would do that because he helped us on the secondary.

I didn’t agree with the cuts but if the talent there and he will help in the moulding of Gaines then do it. Theres a few successfull veteran DE’s out there that still make an impact. He’s one of them. Rotate him with Stylez and he can help us.

The Bucs story gets dumber and dumber. Jason Taylor is done, stick a fork in him. I agee with all the posters, this is a very bad idea. We need DT’s, WR’s, RB’s, QB and our skill challenged front office goes out after a TE and now a DE. Excuse me but does stupidity come to you naturally or do you just work at it Dumminik?

Posted by  Mark, Lutz on 03/02  at  05:46 PM

Dumb move period…. Why? Oh yeah, we missed out on the “spending spree” but we’ll give a guy who will most likely get hurt money. GREAT MOVE guys… Get Cutler and Taylor..different story. Think IMPACT player

Posted by  Bob Agnew, Clearwater on 03/02  at  05:32 PM

By all means, let’s recreate the Buc’s geriatric unit without delay!

Posted by  bucfan4life, edgewater on 03/02  at  05:32 PM

ELARD…HE WAS ALSO YOUNGER..HES 35 INJURED MOST OF LAST SEASON(LIKE BROOKS MIND YOU)SO WE PICK UP TAYLOR AFTER CUTTING BROKES….NO THANKS WOULD BE VERY BAD MOVE

Posted by  joe, brandon on 03/02  at  05:18 PM

It is being reported that the reason for release was because he didn’t want to participate in o.t.a’s. I,m guessing we would have to rest him every wed. like Galloway.. I thought Raheem said Everyone was going to practice and have to want to play. My opinion is that JT is just a “wubby” for bates.

Posted by  Todd, PSJ on 03/02  at  05:11 PM

I was wanting to get Taylor last season when he was available. This would be a great pick up.

Posted by  JVand, Ft Myers on 03/02  at  05:09 PM

Why? Stupid idea. Lets slap Derrick Brooks in the face.

Mr. Brooks, thank you for all your dedication. Good bye. By the way we are going to get someone else just as old as you but not half the player that you are.

Posted by  Harvey, scandinavia, wi on 03/02  at  05:06 PM

Isn’t Taylor pretty old for a team 29 year old Cato June was too old for?

Posted by  Buddy Mckendree, Gainesville on 03/02  at  05:03 PM

Taylor would be an excellent pickup, he could really help Gaines Adams.

Posted by  Elard Andrews, Tampa, Fl on 03/02  at  04:56 PM

I remember that moment when Jason Taylor was in Miami when Jim Bates was coaching he was awesome, so if he lands here that will be a great fit for this defense and just hope we can sign him and sign some more players! They need to get him before someone else does!
