Bucs Issue White Tiger Alert

TAMPA - The Bucs white tiger came out of his cage Tuesday, amid much fanfare.

As WR Joey Gallloway made his way toward the practice field, albeit much later than everyone else, Bucs secondary coach Raheem Morris announced his arrival by turning to the rest of the team and shouting “white tiger alert, white tiger alert.’‘

Galloway’s teammates responded by giving him a smattering of applause and within seconds he was lining up at split end and taking throws from QB Jeff Garcia.

Galloway has earned the nickname “white tiger’’ this year because he’s rarely been seen at practice. In fact, until Tuesday he had yet to take part in a regular team workout.

Tuesday, however, marked his return after weeks of nursing a sore groin. Garcia was also making a comeback to practice after spending the previous two weeks nursing a sore right calf. Jovan Haye, the Bucs starting under tackle, was also working out withe team. He’s been nursing a sore groin, too.

The only notable player missing from this workout was right guard Davin Joseph. Joseph limped off the field following the Bucs second PAT last week, but we’re still not sure what happened to him. As soon as we do we’ll provide an update.

What a crafty veteran. Misses training camp, those nasty two-a-days and two meaningless preseason games due to the illness “veteranitis.” Many veterans develop this illness and many of these same symptoms in late July. Mostly WR’s. See Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer (NY Giants). These debilitating symptoms usually disappear as mysteriously as they arrived by late August or by the first game of the season. Thank god!

You’ve gotta love Raheem Morris! This guy is such a big part of this teams success.

Maybe he can double as a motivating d-line coach also. Perhaps then maybe one of the front four will actually touch the opposing quarterback!

Joseph has a broken foot and will miss several weeks. Now all of you naysayers who felt we should’ve upgraded at WR instead of taking Zuttah should be thanking the heavens that GruAllen are not as dumb as you. It’s easy to find 5’10” talent, but good linemen are hard to come by. Thank goodness we’ve got some sturdy backups now; thanks Bill Muir. Who thought Galloway was really hurt in the first place anyway? He was running routes and catching balls the whole time; just on his own field. He’s just that good!
