Carrollwood Day School Prep football coach Lane McLaughlin has been named the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Coach of the Week.
McLaughlin’s Patriots, playing their first year of 11-man football, defeated Mount Dora Bible 34-14 last Friday. The victory snapped CDS Prep’s three-game losing streak.
Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden presented McLaughlin with a certificate and a personalized football following Thursday morning’s walkthrough at One Buccaneer Place. Prior to practice, McLaughlin and guests toured the team’s state-of-the-art training facility. McLaughlin also will receive $1,000 for his football program.
Gruden’s son, Deuce, is a member of CDS Prep’s football team. The Patriots (2-3) play at Bradenton St. Stephen’s (3-2) on Friday.
