TAMPA – USF’s search for a new coach to replace the ousted Jim Leavitt is something the folks at One Buc Place will pay very close attention to.
Among the coaching candidates who are said to be on USF’s radar is former Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.
Before coming to the Bucs last year, Jagodzinski was the head coach at Boston College, where he compiled a 20-8 record during two seasons.
Jagodzinski’s previous experience in the Big East just may give him a leg up on his competitors.
The fact that he was fired by the Bucs before ever calling a regular season game certainly won’t help Jagodzinski’s cause. The Bucs claims that Jagodzinski came to them with a very thin playbook and struggled with play calling duties won’t help him either.
But there is one thing about Jagodzinki’s brief stint with the Bucs that could help him land the USF job. After letting him go, one highh-ranking Bucs official said he realized before letting Jagodzinski go that he was probably best suited to be a head coach.
With Leavitt gone, Jagodzinski just may get that chance agian.
