NEW ORLEANS - Man, it’s hard to remember the last time the Bucs had to work so hard to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.
They really moved the ball well on that last drive, but prior to that it was one long struggle.
The biggest struggle, of course, was the offensive line’s struggle to keep the Saints pass rushers out of Jeff Garcia’s face. Garcia took a beating in that half. So did rookie Dexter Jackson. Not sure if anyone noticed but Ike Hilliard was back for that last punt return. This after Jo-Lonn Dunbar recorded the hit of the day (so far), nailing Jackson for no gain at the Bucs 35.
This was a half that started out being dominated by the Saints offense and wound up being dominated by the Bucs defense. After giving up that quick score on the first series of the game, the Bucs bounced back to not only get a defensive touchdown of their own but shut down the Saints, limiting them to 110 yards the final 26 minutes.
Drew Brees and Reggie Bush were arguably the two best players on the field at the start of this game but by the time the first half ended the two best players were clearly Barrett Ruud and Tanard Jackson.
One injury of note: Bucs WR Maurice Stovall is questionable for the rest of the game with a sore shoulder.

Why do I post here? Because I can. Do I want to be like you? Nope, I already have my toys. Rich? Not all of you are rich just because you live in Florida. Brees one play away from the end of the season? Brees is no Garcia! And our O line can protect Brees. Sure, he will get sacked, but we’ll still rank in the top 3, like last year, for protecting the QB. Sure, we still have to play at your place, and yes, it will be a challenge. But you can’t say our D wasn’t good against your Bucs. We didn’t even have to blitz! Our front 4 did the job. Our CBs shut y’all down in the redzone. It might have only been the first game, but that can sometimes set the tone. And we will do it again at your place!

To Saints Are Better....GET OFF OUR PAGE DUDE! We sure don’t need an Aint telling us about the NFL. Or did I miss the Super Bowl the Aints won? It’s the first game Dude. This is the NFL. It’s not how you start but how you finish. Brees is one play away from the end of his season. Or did you not hear about Brady yesterday? The Bucs have been there and done that. See you on 11/30 in RayJ, meanwhile, focus on your Aints and let the Bucs figure out they own problems.

Hey S A B, I agree with you on most of that. If Garcia lead those passes more, the reciever could catch them without the defender swatting it. In a game of inches, it’s hard to be off by a foot or 2 like Garcia was all day. Good defense by your whole D. Payton redeemed himself for that play last season. You know, the worst play in History. #1 on the top 10 list of all time stupid. You still have to come play on the Grass in Our House. But for now congrats. Why do you guys come here? None of us go to your sites. Do you want to be us? Rich, Handsome, white sandy beaches, big boats, jet skis, hot women? I haven’t figured out why you guys come to our site.

BigBucFan, Sarasota,
I wouldn’t say Bush’s incomplete was a fumble. He didn’t have control. Now, if you want to challenge the TD, that I would understand. Why didn’t Gruden challenge?!?! I don’t know, but I know Reggie has those ninja moves and is able to easily out maneuver LBs and safeties. The Bucs should have capitalized on our 6 or more penalties. Our D played really, really well, and that’s why the breaks the Bucs got didn’t matter. The Saints took that game. Our CB porter, knocked down each pass Garcia tried to throw in the endzone. My Saints earned that win. Garcia didn’t have time to throw the ball; our defense made sure of that; it made Garcia look bad.

OK, I have to revise my prediction from 16-0 to 15-1(LOL)...as long as Garcia gets the boot. Garcia makes Simms look like Joe Montana. Why do I have the feeling this will get worse before it gets better. Nip it quick. Good job Defense. Few slips & mistakes, but good job as a whole against a powerful offense. We should have won that game.

Concrats to you Saint fans. The Saints played a good game. They did get some key breaks frome the Zebras though. The Bush catch fumble called incomplete. The blatant tackle of Adams. We still had a chance, many chances, but Garcia sucked through & through. How much worse could he have played? His passes were weak, late, wobbly, horrible. I’m a Gruden fan & defend his decisions, but can’t take much more of Garcia. Too bad we didn’t get Favre. Next week at home if that Whinebag throws another game like today, we’ll boo him off the field. He’ll think he was in Cleveland. Pull the plug, now. Trade Garcia to the Pats or somewhere, anywhere.

Now, your run blocking was great!!! It did not help us that my Saints missed too many tackles when your RB got the ball on the outside. I think it was Glenn that missed those 4-5 tackles. We should have been able to stop y’all more. I hope Payton can do something about it. Anyway, y’all have a great running game, which means a lot! Your D will get better. Your offense is better than average. This was a great win for us, but we do have to play the Bucs again at your house.
Go Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more game or half like that and Griese will start. Sundays NFL officials GAVE their contribution to the Gustaf hurricane fund...what a joke...Faine had to help Zuttah every play, Joey/Jeff were never on the same page...Jeff’s wobbly inaccurate was horrible most of the game...Jackson was average...Faine was good...Sears sucked wind...Ronde was off...coverage was horrible...everyone bragged about Talib “the new face of the Bucs”...Kentwan Balmer was a better choice (1st) Andre Caldwell(2nd) but nooooo......DRESS Bennett for the game...Griese starts...Faine helps Zuttah and Ronde gets some help…

Look, it was a great game. The Bucs have a great D and their offense is fine. Now, what you don’t want to admit to is, the Saints’ D is not what y’all are use to seeing. When you sack QBs like that, they will get nervous. That is why we beefed up our D line. Porter, our CB , was a gift from God! The botom line is, the Saints’ D was hard to beat, just as hard as the Buc’s. I said in the past, with Ellis, Mc Cray, Smith and Grant on oue D line, someone, someone would not get doubled teamed, and you saw how that affected your O line.

NOW - perhaps Garcia will understand why the Bucs were interested in Brett Farve. Garcia looked old, rusty and nervous. Galloway, looked like Lopeaway. Aaron Sears looked like a Hall of Fame HOLDER. Did he make ONE BLOCK all day? Note to Gruden: DUDE, when you need 12 yards for a first down, the screen pass is a good idea; but for GAWDS sake, throw it to Dunn or a speedster, NOT THE FULLBACK who runs a 11.5 40. K? Clock management and timeouts were HORRIBLE. That’s on the coach. Now in defense of the Bucs, (PUN INTENDED), the OL of the Saints were HOLDING the entire game. Heck, Gaines got tackled and laid on on that 25 yard run of Bush. Garcia and Galloway need to stay late everyday this week tossing and catching; and get ready for Sunday.

You have Earnest Graham running over people and at the end of the game he is on the bench. Does anyone see any of this?

Dexter Jackson is not an NFL player. How many more times will he fall down instead of taking a hit?

Observations.
Galloway is still a quitter. I dare someone from the trib staff to chronolog all of the plays he has quit on as a Buc.
Defense is doing ok. Only, still alot of lost tackles.
Garcia still has nervous feet, he always has and always will. Average QB at best. And he wonders why the Bucs looked at Farve.
O line the best we have ever had. What?

Come on SAB, you know your CB’s aren’t all that. Our passes were just garbage, but your Defense was much improved. I give your D line an A+, you backers a B+, and your secondary a C-. You almost lost that game. The ref tried hard to give it to you. I don’t think Payton will be happy after he watches the tape. Funny how holding was legal for the Saints, but illegal for the Bucs. But that’s OK, you won, you “D"served it too. Payton called an excellent game. Now it’s all on tape. Adjustments will be made by all your opponents. It won’t be easy even though you have the softest schedule in the NFL this year. You still won’t ever have a ring like the Bucs.
