Bucs / Cowboys Wrap

Pretty frustrating game.  I suppose if there is one thing to take away, it is that a Cowboy defense with more of Wade Phillips involvement in calls is better than it was with less of his input.  Great timing for us.  The Cowboys D shows up on a day when our offense only moved between the 20’s.  Here are some of my take-aways:

Penalties - we need to reign those in.  They bit us hard today.  We were off the field a few times except for mental errors.  We saw some of Coach Gruden’s soon-to-be NFL Films classic Chucky faces today.  And, if you are a lip-reader, well… you didn’t want to be looking at those soon-to-be NFL Films classic Chucky faces.  If she was watching the game, Momma Gruden may need to wash Jonnie’s mouth out with soap.

Defense - overall good effort.  You hold a team like Dallas to 13 points, logic says we should have won that game.  Also, as much as I teased about our rookie number one’s name, Aquib Talib is coming into his own as a fine cornerback.  Gaines Adams is realizing the potential our staff saw in him, too.

I’m still looking for an answer in our return game.  So, evidently, is Coach Gruden.

Nice to see Joey Galloway out there today.  That can only help going forward.  This will take a day or so to get out of our system.  If we’re a playoff caliber team, we should have won this road game today.  And who is next?  Kansas City?  That should be a remedy.  Should be.

What did you see out there?

If we beat KC by 40 points, it won’t cure the fact that Good teams like Dallas and the Giants defenses make our offensive line look like Pop Warner.  We have to beat the Good teams and more so when we are on national tv.  This lowly standing is the reason that the Bucs rarely are on national tv.  Those Stupid penalties really Sucked. June couldn’t quit his act and Barber could not fall down this week when he was beat, so he horse collared the guy.  I’m surprised that Monte puts up with this “Stuff”!  If I were a referee and Gruden called me all of those curse words, I would not give him a break either.  Oh well. so much for our “Offensive Guru”!

What I saw, well, hard to explain. I saw some players like Bryant playing great, then it was like he was taken out of the game.I saw Clayton make an outstanding catch!I saw a defense that played lights out! Why did’nt we pound that rock alittle more? Yes,their defense looked o.k.,we helped them look good! We looked flat out there all day on offense! At a time when we should have been able to establish ourselves as a real contender,we looked medicore at best on offense. Why did’nt we make ajustments in our protection for Garcia? If we can’t score,we won’t win.If we can’t play with the same intensity, like in Carolina, well were average at best. Lets see what we do next week, hopefully,it will be more than this week.

Together they all live in a red house surrounded by lots of trees in the same community with lots of really great people. He is known to hang out on Sunday mornings with people of a much higher caliber than he, and counts that among life's greatest privileges. Then, on Sunday afternoons, Darin and his family settle in for the full slate of NFL games, shouting loudest when the Buccaneers take the field.
