Let’s see now.
The Mighty Bucs are 0-3, with losses to Buffalo and against Dallas at Raymond James that they could have won. Yeah, a bit of a stretch but the Bucs did have their chances.
And now the loss at RJS to the colossus of New York colossus’ New York Giants.
These Bucs are 0-3 and now heading for that tough town, Washington, to play a team that maybe 2 in 100 suggest a Bucko win is possible.
Maybe 1 in 100.
The truth is these Buckos aren’t very good yet, and may not be good for awhile, except on rare days when a star is born to them, such as a Kellen Winslow or a Barrett Ruud.
They will be better, but not tomorrow. These Bucs will surprise and be surprised. They are going to lose some badly, win some close ones grimly. The truth is these Bucs have not yet emerged as a team. As noted repeatedly, these Bucs are virtually star-less, with few emerging to fill that role. Need to have a star we all want to go see play, or strut, or stun.
Coach Raheem Morris sure looks he wants his stars to emerge, to be born in the heavens. He is a bit of a gazer.
Look at the quarterback situation. Sill unresolved. Went for a time with the older guy, just because, and now have moved on with their two young big guns, Josh Johnson and soon-to-be starter, Josh Freeman. And even that’s unsettled. But, he may have the two-spot there he can dance while he’s figuring it out. That continuing Buc QB competition between Joshes is a neat QB sideshow show not seen in Tampa in a while.
But, don‘t think for a minute this young ambitious coach likes this circumstance. What better place to find your QB than centerstage at Washington Stadium?
If Josh can make it there, then he can make it anywhere. Who will become the last man standing?
Indeed, not sure Raheem could have choreographed this any more dramatically. Washington is 1-2, hungry and at home. Naturally, Washington is favored.
But, I will say it now.
The Buccaneers over the Redskins with Johnson throwing a game-winning pass to Cadillac Williams of Auburn and Tampa grabbing a great win in Washington.
Barrett Ruud will be sending Raheem back to the clubhouse soaked in Gatorade after the winning play.
