Roughly 3,000 people sat in the drizzling rain to see The Chosen One’s new throwing mechanics – nearly 100 scouts, coaches and team administrators stood on the field.
The Cleveland Browns must have made up more than half of them.
At least that’s the way it seemed.
When former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow came out onto the turf at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on March 17, the crowd roared. Their eyes fixated on whom some claim to be one of the greatest athletes ever to wear a helmet.
Browns President Mike Holmgren joined them.
Lightning couldn’t have distracted the Super Bowl-winning coach from watching Tebow, rep after rep with his new throw.
And Holmgren brought the cavalry with him: head coach Mike Mangini and his team of minions. They stood on all sides of the field – watching, discussing, evaluating.
After the workout, Holmgren said he liked what he saw from the two-time national champion.
