Brooks-DeBartolo baseball players Adam Eggnatz and Javier Reynoso have made their college decisions, and they are headed to the same school.
Phoenix coach Donnie Oliver said the pair of seniors have committed to Coastal Carolina, a Division I program.
Eggnatz, an outfielder/pitcher, hit. 417 with 14 doubles, 22 runs scored and 30 stolen bases in 2010. He also went 4-2 and posted a 4.38 ERA over 38 1/3 innings pitched.
Reynoso, an first baseman/pitcher, hit .415 with six doubles, three home runs and 16 RBIs last season. He also struck out 31 in 28 2/3 innings on the mound while posting a 2-4 record.
Both players were among the invitees this summer to USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars, an elite invitation-only event that features roughly 150 of the nation’s top 18-and-under players. The event also serves as the first stage of tryouts for the U.S. Junior National Team.
Coastal Carolina has advanced to four straight NCAA Tournaments, and 10 overall. This past season the Chanticleers were a consensus top five team, set a school record for wins and earned the No. 4 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament after winning their fourth straight Big South Conference Tournament title. Coastal Carolina’s season came to an end with a loss to eventual national champion South Carolina in a best of three NCAA Super Regional.
