Brooks-DeBartolo starting center from last season, Tatiana Manuel, has officially transferred to Academy at the Lakes, according to Wildcats coach Karim Norah told the Tampa Tribune on Wednesday afternoon.
Manuel was a block-shot machine for the Phoenix, as the 6-foot-3 center averaged 7.6 blocks per game to go along with her 11.7 points and 7.4 rebounds. Manuel also averaged an impressive 2.5 steals per game to help lead the squad to a 18-9 record, a Class 3A-District 8 runner-up title and a region semifinalist berth.
The Wildcats lost a key cog in their lineup when center Vanessa Vincent graduated after this past season. Academy lost four of their five starters from its Class 2A state semifinalist squad, including Vincent, Samantha Fernandez and Amelia Oliver.
