The Rays have some middle-infield insurance for the playoffs.
Reid Brignac, whose minor-league season ended Aug. 6 when he was hit by a pitch and suffered a broken lef wrist, is healthy and playing in the Instructional League.
Should the Rays suffer an injury up the middle during the playoffs, they wouldn’t hesitate to activate Brignac, Andrew Friedman said.
No major news on the roster front today. Friedman said Troy Percival’s status is still unsettled, and the same goes for Carl Crawford.
The only players who have been told they’re not on the roster are pitchers Jeff Niemann, Mitch Talbot and Juan Salas. No surprises there.
