Brandon junior baseball player Chase Sparkman has verbally committed to USF, Eagles coach Matt Stallbaumer said Wednesday.
Sparkman, a left-handed pitcher, has been one of the Eagles’ top hurlers in each of the past two seasons, working both as a starter and out of the bullpen.
He went 7-0 with four saves and a 2.78 ERA as a freshman while helping Brandon make a run to a Saladino Tournament championship and to the Class 5A state semifinals. As a sophomore, Sparkman went 3-1 with seven saves and a team-low 1.64 ERA while helping the Eagles advance to the playoffs for a second consecutive season.
