Brandon outfielder James Ramsay is the recipient of the 40th Tony Saladino Memorial Baseball Award, presented annually since 1971 to the top high school senior baseball player in Hillsborough County.
Ramsay was presented the award Sunday evening at the home of Tony and Bertha Saladino. He is the sixth Brandon player to receive the award in its 40 year history, the first since Josh Sawyer in 2002.
Ramsay hit .419 with three home runs, 17 RBIs and 38 runs scored in his senior season with the Eagles. He was voted the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s Class 6A player of the year in District 13 and also was an FACA all-star.
Ramsay has signed with the University of South Florida. He also was a 38th round selection by the New York Yankees in the recent MLB draft.
