Class 5A baseball semifinal: Dunedin 16, Brandon 3


Well that’s it. Dunedin wins 16-3 and advances to the Class 5A state finals where the Falcons will face South Fork.

The runs keep on coming. A double from Kollenbaum cleared the bases for three more runs to give Dunedin the 16-3 lead.

This is Brandon’s last chance to make a miraculous comeback.

Two more runs come in for Dunedin, which now leads 12-3. There are two outs in the top of the seventh.

Max Priest just walked home to extend Dunedin’s lead to 9-3.

After five innings, Dunedin leads 8-3.

Kreuter sent two down swinging and allowed one hit. The second out came on a fly out to first.

It’s the middle of the fifth inning and Dunedin leads 8-3. Trnka struck out the last batter for the third out.

Dunedin has just put two runs on the board thanks to a two-run, full count shot to right field by Clay Kollenbaum.

Browder has been pulled after giving up eight runs off four hits. Dan Trnka comes in in the fifth inning to take over. There is one out, the score is now Dunedin 8, Brandon 3.

Dunedin SS Jake Rogers just had an outstanding over the shoulder catch to record the third out of the inning.

Dunedin 6, Brandon 3, T-3rd

Kreuter struck out the last batter for the final out of the inning to keep the score 6-3. Dunedin left the bases loaded.

Browder is up to 60 pitches through two innings and Kreuter is up to 48.

Kreuter gave up two walks, one single and hit one batter in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Brandon just walked a run home to cut Dunedin’s lead to 6-3. The bases are loaded with two outs.

That was a huge inning for Dunedin. The Falcons scored six runs off three hits, two of which were HRs. Brandon committed no errors. Middle of the 2nd inning.

2-run blast to right field by Jake Rogers gives Dunedin the 6-2 lead. Still one out in the top of the first.

Dunedin has taken a 4-2 lead off a 3-run HR to LF from Max Kreuter on a 2-2 pitch. Casey Turgeon was just hit by the pitcher so he advances to 1B with one out in the top of the 2nd.

Dunedin turned a 4-6-3 double play, walked Chris Bradford then Austin Browder sent the last batter down swinging to end the 1st inning.

A misplayed ball in center field has led to a 2-0 lead for Brandon. James Ramsay hit the ball to center and the error drove home Eric Arce, who was on first after getting hit at the plate. Ramsay was able to get all the way around to cross home plate while Dunedin tried to get a handle on the ball.

Dunedin scores no runs on no hits and no errors. Dunedin stranded two runners on second and third.

Brandon P Austin Browder walked two and struck out two swinging but threw 29 pitches. He walked the first two batters, struck out the next two and the third out came on a grounder to short.

South Fork beat Niceville 3-0 in the other 5A semifinal and will face the winner of Brandon/Dunedin in the Class 5A finals at 7 p.m. Thursday.
