Football gets most of the attention on National Signing Day (which is next Wednesday) but other sports are invovled in getting student/athletes signed.
Florida State’s swimming and diving team announced its list of the 2010 signees and it includes three area swimmers. Brandon Blue Wave’s Jack Deedrick is one of 20 new swimmers that will be joining the Seminoles next season.
“One of the biggest diamonds in the rough and another great catch from our home state,” FSU head coach Neil Harper said. “It won’t be long before Jack showcases his full potential as a Seminole.”
Countryside’s Jon Taddeo will be joining Deedrick.
“Jon is a great up and coming talent in the state of Florida,” Harper said. “He has great range and versatility and has the potential to be an ACC medalist and NCAA scorer.”
On the girls side, East Lake’s Katie Torres is one of the many state swimmers the Seminoles signed.
“Katie had many offers from other in-state schools but chose to elevate her goals even higher by coming to Florida State,” Harper said. “She has a lot of power and speed and I think with a little more technique work will start passing the few people that beat her in high school! I am looking forward to working with her.”
