MLB.com reported earlier this afternoon that the Rays had activated Chad Bradford off the 15-day disabled list to take the roster spot cleared when Jeff Bennett was optioned out last night.
That has not, in fact, happened, and I believe the story has now been removed from MLB.com.
Not to say it won’t still happen—Bradford is ready and would have been activated last night if not for Pat Burrell experiencing problems with his neck that forced him from the game. Considering the Rays are already short on position players, though, it might be prudent to have a position player around and hold off on Bradford for a couple more days.
Anyway, we should have official word soon.
