Tampa Prep standout midfielder Anthony Baumann has committed to Providence College to continue his soccer career.
Baumann, who leads the Terrapins with 12 assists this season and has added second goals, said the quality of the school’s academics and the opportunity to play in the Big East and for Coach Chaka Daley were what helped make up his mind.
“Academics played a big part in it, along with competing in the Big East conference and a coach that has connections to the next level,” Baumann said. “Those couple of things really sparked my interest, and I wanted to go up to the northeast with my family.”
Baumann is the second member of the Clearwater Chargers’ Under-18 Academy team to commit to the Friars, with Seminole’s Shane Wixted having already committed.
