Durant senior guard A.J. Garden will attend Jacksonville University in the fall and play for the men’s basketball team, a Division I program, as a preferred walk-on, Durant coach Jeff Shotwell said.
Garden, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard, averaged 12.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this past season. He will graduate as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,415 career points.
The Dolphins play out of the Atlantic Sun Conference, which the home, and future home, of a few area players. Former Armwood guard Adam Sollazzo plays for East Tennessee State while Plant senior guard Sheldon Cooley and Ridgewood senior center Lukas Poderis have signed with ETSU, the defending conference champion.
ETSU defeated Jacksonville in the conference title game.
