Armwood senior and 6-foot-5 center Demetrius Jackson, one of the top players in Hillsborough County this season, was suspended for six weeks by the FHSAA for his role in an altercation with a Bloomingdale player during in a preseason basketball game, Armwood coach Jeff Pafunda said. Pafunda said Jackson should return to action Jan. 1.
Jackson, who has interest from as several colleges, including Division I Jacksonville University, led the county in blocks last season with 6.6 per game. He also averaged 8.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
“He’s very remorseful,” Pafunda said.
