Plant City native Chevelle Hallback will make her way back to the ring to face Holly Holm March 26 in New Mexico.

This marks Hallback’s first appearance in the boxing ring since her June 2008 split decision victory against Jeannine Garside for the vacant IFBA lightweight title.

Hallback (27-5-2, 11 KOs) has won two of her last three bouts – one of which was a draw - but her last loss came to Holm (26-1-3, 7 KOs) in 2005. Holm’s lone loss came in 2004 when she couldn’t continue her fight against Rita Turrisi due to a deep cut under her eye.

The event will take place in Holm’s backyard at Albuquerque’s Isleta Casino and Resort.

Ultimately, Hallback’s goal is to make her way to HBO to be a part of the first non Pay Per View female fight to air on that network.

“After talking with (advisor) Bill (Calogero), I know the only way I will ever get a shot on HBO is to fight the best, so we decided to reach out to one of women’s best pound for pound fighters - Holly Holm,” Hallback said in a release. “We are not playing games! I feel I am the best pound for pound female boxer on the planet and will prove it. I will take women’s boxing on my own shoulders and put it on the map once and for all. We will not only win March 26, we will leave no doubt as to who the BEST women’s boxer in the world is.”
